The Special Presidential Investigation Committee, appointed to probe past fraud, corruption, and malpractices at Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd., (AASL) and SriLankan Airlines during the period from 2010 to 2025, has called for complaints, views, and proposals from employees, staff members, and the general public.

Accordingly, the Committee has requested interested individuals and organisations to submit their concerns on or before 5 September 2025. Submissions may be made via email to [email protected] or by WhatsApp to 070-3307700. The Committee will thereafter schedule appointments for discussions.

The body was established under Cabinet Decision No. 25/1145/801/018 dated 1 July 2025, based on a Cabinet Memorandum submitted by President Anura Kumara Disanayake on 30 June 2025.

The Committee, chaired by former Auditor General H.M. Gamini Wijesinghe, is tasked to conduct a detailed and formal study of the financial operational activities of the national carrier, including areas such as aircraft leasing, recruitment practices, and other transactions that were not fully covered by previous investigations, including those conducted by the J.C. Weliamuna Committee under the previous administration.

The purpose of this exercise is to explore all possibilities of recovering the national airline and ensuring its long-term sustainability without considering privatisation as the only option (https://www.ft.lk/top-story/SriLankan-Airlines-under-fresh-probe-for-irregularities-from-2010-2025/26-778525).
