President chairs roundtable discussion on energy transition

President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday chaired a roundtable discussion on “Advancing Energy Transition” at the Hilton Colombo where he emphasised the need for a comprehensive plan to harness renewable energy and explore future trends in green hydrogen in Sri Lanka. The event, held in collaboration with the World Bank, the Ministry of Power and Energy, and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), provided a platform for discussing the country’s energy transition.Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera, State Ministers D.V. Chanaka and Indika Anuruddha Herath, along with Advisor to the President on Climate Change Ruwan Wijewardena, Power and Energy Ministry Secretary Dr. Sulakshana Jayawardena, CEB Chairman Nalinda Illangakoon, senior officials from the Ministry and representatives from The World Bank, AIIB, JICA, USAID, ADB, and other relevant organisations were present at the event.
