Police warns against fake currencies

The Police yesterday warned the public to be vigilant on fake currencies in circulation during the festive season, following the seizure of 20 Rs. 1,000 bills by them in Homagama.

According to Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana, Rs. 20,000 in Rs. 1,000 bills and a computerised printer used to print the bills were seized from a property in Pitipana, Homagama on Wednesday (23 December) night. Three suspects arrested along with the fake currencies were produced before Magistrates Court yesterday. 

Biyagama Police Station is conducting further investigations, DIG Rohana said. (AF)
