Police sub-cluster increases to 839 cases

A total of 839 COVID-19 cases have been identified among officers attached to the Sri Lanka Police, including five officers who tested positive for the virus on Thursday.

Two sea marshals and one officer attached to the Special Task Force (STF) also tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, along with one person from the Welikada Prison and another from the Bogambara Prison. The total number of patients identified from prisons is 534.

Meanwhile, sources revealed to the Daily FT that the Civil Defence Force (CDF) had put its Katunayake camp under lockdown after five CDF personnel tested positive in the past few days from the Gampaha District.

It was also stated that 30 persons are currently undergoing quarantine in the Katunayake camp, while 70 officers are undergoing quarantine in the Wellampitiya – Wennawatte camp, after a driver attached to the camp tested positive.
