The Police yesterday, during a ten-hour island-wide search operation, arrested 136 foreign nationals who were overstaying their visa.
According to the Police Media Division, 82 Indians, 12 Pakistanis and 10 Maldivians constituted the majority of those arrested, with Swiss, Americans, Swedes and Israelis also among those apprehended.
Police are conducting further investigations and those arrested will likely be charged with violating the Immigration and Emigration Act.
