Parliament adopts PDPA Amendment Bill

The Parliament on Tuesday adopted the Committee Stage amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

The Ministry of Digital Economy said the PDPA Amendment Bill, which received Cabinet approval, was passed at the Second Reading on 3 June. Following this, the Legal Draftsman’s Department, in consultation with the Attorney General’s Department, identified a set of minor amendments to be proposed at the Committee Stage at the request of the Ministry of Digital Economy.

According to the Ministry, the Committee Stage amendments approved by the Cabinet was adopted by Parliament without debate, and the Third Reading of the Bill will also passed with these amendments on the same day.
