Over 600,000 seniors receive monthly Aswesuma benefits today

The Welfare Benefits Board has announced that the monthly allowance for senior citizens aged over 70, who are enrolled in the Aswesuma program, will be credited to their respective bank accounts today (30 July).

In a statement issued on 28 July, the Board confirmed that 600,768 eligible recipients will benefit from this financial aid under the existing relief scheme.

The total allocation for July amounts to Rs. 3.003 billion, which the Board said is aimed at ensuring timely support for senior citizens in need.

Beneficiaries can withdraw their funds from their respective accounts from today onwards, the statement added.
