Over 1.9 m applicants for Rs. 5,000 allowance program

Over 1.9 million people have applied for the program by the Special Task Force for Essential Service providing persons who have lost their income due to the COVID-19 pandemic with an allowance of Rs. 5,000.

A total of 14,009 rural committees went through the applications and made their selections on Sunday and the allowance was provided starting yesterday. According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, the program was carried out by the rural committees and Samurdhi officers.
