New Rs. 2000 note in public circulation soon

The Central Bank yesterday said the Rs. 2000 circulated commemorative currency note issued on 29 August to mark its 75th anniversary is being gradually released to the public through Licenced Commercial Banks.

The Central Bank said banks are in the process of calibrating their cash-handling machines to accept and dispense the new note. As this work is completed, the note will enter wider circulation across the banking network.

The Central Bank requested the cooperation of the public during the transition and assured that the new note will be seamlessly accommodated across banking channels once the calibration process is concluded.
