Nearly 250 km of major roads damaged

  • Transport and Highways Ministry says 247 km of A- and B-grade roads across country damaged by adverse weather
  • 40 bridges destroyed and 81 road sections remain closed to traffic

The Transport and Highways Ministry yesterday reported that approximately 247 km of A- and B-grade roads across the country have been damaged due to adverse weather conditions, while 40 bridges have been destroyed. 

The report was made at a discussion with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday.

Officials said that 175 out of 256 damaged road sections have now been opened to traffic.
