Nearly 11,000 tourists in first four days of June

Sri Lanka has welcomed nearly 11,000 tourists during the first four days of the month, despite it being an off-season month.

The country received 10,952 tourists during the first four days of the month, pushing the cumulative figure to date to 535,438, propelling the impetus to continue in the year 2023.

After regaining its place as the top source market India continues to grow reflecting 25% or 2,747, followed by Russia, the United Kingdom, Australia and China.

In addition, tourists were also received from Germany, the US, Canada, Maldives and France.

The industry together with Sri Lanka Tourism is anticipating reaching a monthly target of 87,521.

As per Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in 2023, the key focus is on nine key markets that include; India, Russia, China, the UK, France, Germany, the Middle East, Nordic countries and Australia.

Sri Lanka Tourism is also working with 1,000 influencers throughout the year to ensure that the strategy will positively impact the arrival patterns in a spaced-out manner to make Sri Lanka a year-round destination.

The industry is hopeful of achieving its upwardly revised target of 2 million visitors and an income of over $ 3 billion in 2023.
