NPP Medagama PS Budget defeated

The 2027 Budget of the Medagama Pradeshiya Sabha, a local council controlled by the National People’s Power (NPP), was defeated by one vote yesterday.

Medagama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Ajith Priyantha Ratnayaka presented the Budget proposals for debate when the council met in the morning. Eight members voted in favour and nine against. The nine opposition members, representing the United National Party (UNP), Sarvajana Balaya, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), the Podujana Eksath Peramuna and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), voted together to defeat the proposals.
