NEM Construction gets Rs. 699.56 m Mahaiyawa railway line project

The Cabinet of Ministers at their meeting on Monday approved awarding the contract for the construction of an underground concrete way below the Mahaiyawa railway line on the Kandy-Jaffna road (A-009) to NEM Construction Ltd. for Rs. 699.58 million (without tax).

Addressing the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said bids were invited under the National Competitive Procurement Procedure for the procurement of construction of an underground concrete way below the Mahaiyawa railway line on the Kandy-Jaffna road (A-009).

“Three bids have been forwarded for that purpose. After a thorough evaluation by the High-Level Standing Procurement Committee, NEM Construction was selected as the most responsive and lowest bidder,” he said.

The proposal to this effect submitted by the Transport, Highways, and Urban Development Minister was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
