  • Makes three senior appointments to drive growth and market expansion

NDB Investment Bank Ltd. (NDBIB), continued to strengthen its leadership team through the new appointments of Kaushini Laksumanage as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Eshani Thenuwara as the Head of Debt Capital Markets, and Sujani Perera as Senior Vice President, Corporate Advisory, with a view of penetrating client coverage, distribution capabilities and geographical expansion.

Kaushini Laksumanage brings over 25 years of capital market experience to her new role as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, having previously served as Chief Operating Officer of NDBIB. She has been central in steering NDBIB’s Debt Capital Markets Division to its prominent market leader position, with expertise spanning debentures, hybrid instruments, project financing, syndications, asset-backed securitisations and Basel III compliant listed debt. She led the deal team that structured Sri Lanka’s first-ever Basel III Compliant listed Tier 2 debenture issue and has also pioneered innovative securitisation structures, sustainable bonds and Islamic financing structures to the Sri Lankan capital market. Kaushini joined the NDB Group in 2000 and was appointed COO of NDB Investment Bank in April 2010.

Eshani Thenuwara, who has been serving as Senior Vice President of NDBIB since 2021, has been appointed Head of Debt Capital Markets in recognition of her deep expertise and significant contributions to Sri Lanka’s debt capital markets. Since joining NDBIB in 2007, Eshani has played a pivotal role in establishing NDBIB’s dominance in the listed debt space, with her involvement spanning the full spectrum of debt instruments including debentures, hybrid instruments, project financing, syndications, asset-backed securitisations and Basel III compliant listed debt. She has been instrumental in executing several landmark debt capital market transactions and has pioneered a number of market firsts in Sri Lanka, including social bonds and the country’s first Islamic Sukuk structure.

Sujani Perera’s promotion to Senior Vice President recognises over 18 years of broad-based investment banking experience at NDBIB. Since joining NDBIB, she has engaged in a diverse range of capital market transactions including IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, rights issues, private placements, corporate restructurings, loan syndications and structured debt facilities across an array of industries, several of which have been milestone transactions for the Company and the country. Sujani is responsible for sourcing and advising clients with regard to capital market transactions, both in listed and unlisted space.
