Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday reassured that there will no sale or lease of East Container Terminal (ECT) as claimed by the Opposition.

“It is the current Opposition which during its time in office previously promoted sale or lease of State assets.

The new Government was voted in to end such a course. The ECT is and will be under the Government as there is no plan to sell or lease,” the Prime Minister told journalists. He added that there was no need for trade unions to strike as the entire Cabinet was backing Government-led development of ECT.
