The Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday approved awarding a Rs. 650.9 million contract to Maga Engineering Ltd., for paving works of State-run Jaya Container Terminal (JCT)-V Yard in the Port of Colombo.
The Sri Lanka Ports Authority has planned to extend the existing JCT-IV Quay Wall to accommodate two medium-size container vessels and to develop the yard area behind to increase the yard capacity. The balance development work of the JCT-V Yard needs to be completed for full functioning of IV.
Following national competitive bids invited for the procurement of paving work of the reclaimed yard area and connecting it to the existing yard, nine bids were received.
“Maga Engineering Ltd., was the substantially responsive evaluated bidder as recommended by the Bid Evaluation Committee and the High-Level Procurement Committee,” Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said at the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.
The proposal to this effect submitted by Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Rathnayake was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
