President Maithripala Sirisena and UNP presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa held a meeting last night. Premadasa was accompanied to the meeting by UNP Chairman Kabir Hashim. The two were expected to discuss the upcoming Presidential Election.

The SLFP, headed by President Sirisena, has been non-committal about which party it would support in the upcoming polls, or if it will field its own candidate.

Premadasa said, after getting his party’s endorsement last week, that he is willing to work with the SLFP if they endorse his policies.
