Founder shareholder M.A. Yaseen has increased his personal stakes in United Motors Lanka PLC (UML) and its owner R I L Property PLC (RIL), investing Rs. 5 billion.
He acquired an 11.3% stake or 114 million shares at Rs. 27 each between 24 July and 6 August. The acquired stake was that of R.R. Takahashi, the second-largest individual shareholder of UML.
Separately, Yaseen has a 13% stake, and with the latest addition, his holding goes up to 24%.
Related party RIL holds 51% stake in UML. Yaseen holds 29.5% stake in RIL.
UML share price closed yesterday at Rs. 27.10, up by Rs. 0.10. Net asset value per share of UML was Rs. 17.40 as at 31 March 2026.
Separately, Yaseen also bought a 10.6% stake of RIL or 85 million shares at Rs. 24 each in a deal worth Rs. 2 billion from Takahashi, and also crossed his total personal stake to 41% in RIL. As at 31 March 2026, Takahashi held 189.2 million shares or 23.65% stake.
RIL share price yesterday was Rs. 25.90, up by Rs. 0.50. Net asset value per share of RIL was Rs. 26.52 as at 31 March 2026.
