Litro Gas Lanka and Laugfs Gas PLC yesterday announced that domestic LP gas prices will remain unchanged for June despite ongoing volatility in international energy markets and exchange rate movements.
Litro said the decision was taken to provide relief to consumers and maintain price stability amid prevailing economic conditions.
Accordingly, prices applicable in May will continue throughout June.
Under the revised schedule for the Colombo District, a 12.5 kg domestic cylinder will remain at Rs. 4,765, while the 5 kg and 2.3 kg cylinders will continue to be sold at Rs. 1,910 and Rs. 890 respectively.
Litro said the decision was made despite challenges arising from international market prices and currency fluctuations, which continue to influence the cost of imported liquefied petroleum gas.
Laugfs Gas PLC yesterday also announced that domestic LPG prices will remain unchanged for June despite rising global procurement costs, elevated freight rates and the depreciation of the rupee.
The company said continued volatility in international energy markets, geopolitical uncertainties, supply chain disruptions and higher logistics costs had increased the landed cost of LPG imports worldwide.
However, Laugfs said it had taken measures to improve supply chain and operational efficiencies to absorb a significant portion of the cost pressures without passing them on to consumers.
Accordingly, the price of a 12.5 kg domestic LPG cylinder in the Colombo District will remain at Rs. 6,245, while the 5 kg cylinder will continue to be sold at Rs. 2,500 during June. District-wise prices may vary depending on transportation and distribution costs.
The company said it remained focused on maintaining stable supplies, safety standards and service levels despite challenging global operating conditions.
LAUGFS Gas PLC Director/CEO Nalinda Kurukulassoriya said the company had opted to absorb a significant share of the cost increases in recognition of LPG’s importance as an essential household energy source.
