  • Sri Lanka hosts three-day high-profile Jain Business Conclave, boosting trade and investment links
  • Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Indian political and entertainment personality Smriti Irani expected to attend

Sri Lanka will play host to one of the most influential gatherings of global business leaders from the Jain community, as the JITO Chennai Plus Foundation and JITO Business Network (JBN) launch the ‘JBN Power Conclave’ at ITC Ratnadipa in Colombo from today (15) to 17 August.

The Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) is a worldwide body of leading Jain industrialists, entrepreneurs, professionals, and knowledge leaders committed to economic empowerment, value-based education, community service, and global networking. With over 19,000 influential members across India and around the world, including some of the wealthiest business figures such as Gautam Adani, Motilal Oswal, billionaire Sudhir Mehta of Torrent Group and pharmaceutical leader Dilip Surana of Micro Labs Ltd., the JITO wields significant global economic influence.

The three-day Colombo Conclave is set to draw 600-700 high-net-worth participants from across the globe, including the US, for industry-specific forums, curated business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking sessions, and cultural events. Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, along with Indian political and entertainment personality Smriti Irani, are expected to attend, adding a high-profile cultural dimension to the business-focused program.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has previously participated in and addressed JITO events in India, underscoring the organisation’s prominence and reach.

Organisers and participants have expressed a strong interest in exploring trade and investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, positioning the Conclave as a potential catalyst for closer economic ties. Hosting such a prestigious event in Colombo is also seen as a boost to Sri Lanka’s standing as a conference tourism hub, strengthening investor confidence and showcasing the island as an attractive business destination.

Industry observers believe that the event’s high-level networking and potential business partnerships could pave the way for new investments and collaborations, particularly in sectors where Sri Lanka holds strategic advantages.
