India’s Premier Energies gets $ 17 m rooftop solar power generation project

India’s Premier Energies Ltd. has secured a $17 million contract to implement a rooftop solar power generation project in Sri Lanka. The decision was based on the recommendation of the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.

On January 8, 2024, the Cabinet approved rooftop solar power projects in religious places as part of a $1 billion loan from the State Bank of India.

The Government highlighted an international competitive bidding process, with only six bids received. Recommendations from the Procurement Appellate Board and Technical Appraisal Committee were considered.

The proposal by Power and Energy Minister KanchanaWijesekera was approved during the Cabinet meeting held on Monday.
