The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has further deferred the implementation of the new tax invoice format and specifications for Value Added Tax (VAT) registered persons to 1 July 2026, extending the previously announced 1 April deadline.
In a notice dated 31 March, the IRD said the revised timeline relates to the specified tax invoice format introduced under prior instructions, with an amendment to the relevant Gazette Notification to be issued in due course.
The move follows an earlier postponement from the original 1 January 2026 after requests from VAT-registered entities seeking more time to comply with the new requirements.
The IRD stated that the latest extension applies to the specified tax invoice format outlined in paper notice No. PN/VAT/2025-12/1 dated 12 December 2025.
The new format is part of broader efforts to standardise VAT documentation and improve compliance and reporting accuracy across registered businesses.
