IRD collections rise 24% to Rs. 2.04 t in nine months

Inland Revenue Department (IRD) collections rose 24.2% year-on-year to Rs. 2.04 trillion in the nine months to September 2026, Finance Ministry data showed, putting the Department within reach of its full-year target.

Collections were Rs. 398 billion higher than the Rs. 1.64 trillion recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.

Growth accelerated in September, when the IRD collected Rs. 288 billion, up 33.3% from Rs. 216 billion a year earlier, an increase of Rs. 72 billion.

The nine-month total represents 85% of the IRD’s Rs. 2.4 trillion target for 2026, leaving Rs. 361 billion to be collected in the final three months of the year.
