IMF reassures commitment to help SL

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) yesterday reassured its commitment to help Sri Lanka amidst the economic, social and political crises.

“We are following developments in Sri Lanka closely and are concerned about rising social tensions and violence,” IMF Mission Chief for Sri Lanka Masahiro Nozaki said.

He said that the virtual mission during 9-23 May, discussions at the technical level have just started and continue as planned so as to be fully prepared for policy discussions once a new Government has been formed. “We remain committed to assist Sri Lanka in line with the IMF’s policies,” Nozaki added.
