People’s Bank Chairman Hemasiri Fernando has been appointed as the Chief of Staff of the President.
He received his letter of appointment from President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (3).
Fernando was the Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka and he is a prominent personality in the civil service.
He held many top posts including those of the Secretary to Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike, Sri Lanka Telecom Ltd. Chairman, Ministry of Posts Secretary and Airport and Aviation Authority Chairman.
Fernando was educated at Nalanda College, Colombo.
