President Anura Kumara Disanayake has appointed Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof as the President’s Special Envoy for Foreign Investment to strengthen the country’s global investment engagement and support the Government’s economic revival efforts.

The appointment, made under Article 41(1) of the Constitution, acknowledges Yusoof’s extensive experience in international investment partnerships and his longstanding contribution to Sri Lanka’s private sector development.

In his new role, Yusoof will facilitate high-level engagement with global investors and strategic partners, boost investor confidence and help attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into priority sectors.

He will also work closely with the Board of Investment (BOI), Export Development Board (EDB), Port City Commission and relevant Ministries to identify and promote key investment opportunities.

The move aims to enhance Sri Lanka’s investment climate, reaffirm global confidence in the nation’s economic stability and accelerate sustainable growth.

Yusoof will undertake the position on an honorary basis, in addition to his current duties as Governor of the Western Province.
