HNB announces future MD/CEO

The second largest in the private sector, Hatton National Bank (HNB) yesterday announced the appointment of Damith Pallewatte as the next Managing Director/CEO with effect from 23 August 2024.

He will succeed incumbent Jonathan Alles who is scheduled to retire on the same date.

In a disclosure to the Colombo Stock Exchange, HNB said Pallewatte, currently serving as the Deputy General Manager - Wholesale Banking Group and selected by the Board of Directors at its meeting to be the successor to Alles and the appointment will be effective from 24 August 2024 with the retirement of Alles, subject to approval of his fit and propriety from Central Bank of Sri Lanka.  Alles has been the MD/CEO of HNB since July 2013. Pallewatte, will be taking over as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HNB with over 27 years of experience in the-banking sector of which over 14 years in Senior Corporate Management. 

He has exposure to the full spectrum of banking covering Branch Banking, Operations, and Credit including Strategy and Risk Management. He has also held Corporate Management positions in two leading private sector commercial banks in Sri Lanka.
