  • Citizens can access any Government service via single app
  • Developing app is a strategic priority, says Cabinet Spokesman
  • Rollout within 2026

Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa yesterday said that the Government was developing a Rs. 500 million Super App, a single platform enabling citizens to access the full range of State-sector services.

Addressing the Cabinet press briefing, Dr. Jayatissa said citizens face major difficulties under the current system, which forces them to repeatedly enter the same information across multiple platforms and undergo several verification processes to access public services.

The loss of time and resources is considerable.

Dr. Jayatissa said, “It has been estimated that the economic loss due to this is Rs. 500 million. Therefore, in line with the Government’s digital economy strategy, the development of a Government Super App that covers a broad range has been identified as a strategic priority in providing Government services.”

He said the project entails formulating a digital platform that provides the capability of accessing public services through one interface for about 2 million accesses annually for the 14 million citizens aged 18 years or older, combining all public services into a user-friendly mobile application and one web application.

On Monday the Cabinet of Ministers had approved the proposal presented by President Anura Kumara Disanayake in his capacity as Digital Economy Minister to implement the Government Super App project in two stages at a cost of Rs. 500 million by the end of 2026.
