The Government will submit a Resolution to Parliament to borrow a staggering Rs. 750 billion via the issuance of Treasury Bills.
This will be in addition to the Rs. 1.7 trillion for which the Government is seeking parliamentary approval this week.
The Resolution will be submitted under the Local Treasury Bills Ordinance by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, seeking all requisite authority under Section 2 (1) of the Local Treasury Bills Ordinance for the purpose.
