The Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Monday agreed to amend the Online Safety Act, No. 9 of 2024.
The move was in recognition of the joint Cabinet Memorandum furnished by the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, and the Minister of Justice and National Integration.
The Government has decided to appoint a committee representing all the relevant sectors chaired by a Supreme Court Judge for submitting recommendations to amend the said Act, including the already identified revisions and recognised revisions subsequent to inquiring the public opinion.
