The Government yesterday indefinitely suspended the visa-on-arrival facility and appealed to the public to refrain from all but essential travel.

The Government Information Department issuing a statement late yesterday said the quarantine facilities established in several locations in the country were not only for Sri Lankans returning from South Korea, Italy or Iran but also for foreigners as well and there were several non-Sri Lankans being treated at these facilities.

The statement went onto say the Government appeals to all citizens and other stakeholders to consider quarantine as a moral and social responsibility and therefore adhere to the recommendations and guidelines that have been announced by the relevant health officials.
