The Government has decided to increase the tax on imported milk power from last night.
Trade Minister Nalin Fernando said the Ports and Airport Development Levy (PAL) imposed on milk powder has been increased by 10% per kilogram with effect from yesterday.
The Trade Minister assured that prices in the local market will not increase despite the announcement.
