Govt. dismisses rumours of Cabinet reshuffle and replacement of Prime Minister

Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa yesterday categorically rejected speculation surrounding a possible Cabinet reshuffle and the replacement of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, calling the reports baseless and politically motivated.

Speaking at the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing, he clarified that no discussion or decision has been made by the Government regarding any changes to the current Cabinet structure.

“There has been no conversation at the Cabinet level or anywhere within the Government about replacing the Prime Minister or reshuffling the Cabinet. These rumours are being circulated by factions with vested political interests who seek to create instability,” Dr. Jayatissa said.

He said the Government is focused on implementing the much needed reform agenda and not entertaining unfounded political gossip.
