The Cabinet earlier this week declared the award of next year’s liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply contract to Geogas Trading S.A., following the conclusion of a competitive procurement process carried out under the 2024 Procurement Guidelines.
Litro Gas Lanka had invited both technical and financial proposals under the double cover procedure, drawing five submissions. Two bidders advanced to the financial evaluation stage after meeting the technical requirements.
Based on the recommendations of the Higher Level Standing Procurement Committee and the Procurement Appeal Board, the Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Finance, Planning and Economic Development Minister, to procure 380,000 metric tons of LPG with a permissible variation of 20% from Geogas Trading S.A. for the period beginning January 2026.
A post-Cabinet statement said the Swiss-based firm secured the contract after emerging successful in the international tender.
