Gahanath appointed new MD/CEO at DIMO

Gahanath Pandithage 

Gahanath Pandithage has been appointed as the new Managing Director and CEO at Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC with effect from 1 September 2023.

At present he is the Group CEO and Director.

Ranjith Pandithage though shedding the role of MD will remain as the Chairman.

Separately top professional Manil Jayesinghe has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 September 2023.

DIMO also announced veteran director and shareholder Sarath Algama will step down from the Board from 1 September.

Algama holds a 6.4% stake in DIMO. He was appointed to the Board in November 1984 and served in a Non-Executive capacity until 1994 and was appointed as an Executive Director in 1994. He was appointed Managing Director of DIMO from April 2009. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Incorporated Engineers (SL), and his expertise lies in Engineering.

Gahanath Pandithage joined DIMO in September 1986 and was appointed to the Board in December 1995. He was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer with effect from April 2006 and as Group Chief Executive Officer in April 2012. He is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK (CIMA), and an Alumni of Harvard Business School Advance Management Program (AMP). His expertise lies in Finance, ICT, Leadership.

Consequent to these changes, the Board of Directors of Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC with effect from 1 September 2023 will be A.R. Pandithage (Chairman), A.G. Pandithage (Managing Director/Group CEO), M.V. Bandara, Dr. H. Cabral, J.M.D. De Silva, B.C.S.A.P. Gooneratne, H.M.A. Jayesinghe, D.N.K. Kurukulasuriya, P.K.W. Mahendra, A.M. Pandithage, C.R. Pandithage, S.R.W.M.C. Ranawana and A.D.B. Talwatte.
