LOLC Divi Saviya has earned international recognition at the International CSR Excellence Awards 2026 for Community Commitment, organised by The CSR Society, a subsidiary of The Green Organisation UK. The recognition highlights its sustained commitment to uplifting communities across Sri Lanka during the nation’s most challenging periods.
The initiative was honoured among global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) leaders for its far-reaching humanitarian and social impact.
LOLC Holdings PLC Chief Operating Officer Kithsiri Gunawardena and LOLC Group Director Niveyn Nanayakkara accepted the award at the awards ceremony held at the historic St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on 1 June.
Speaking on the significance of the award, The Green Organisation and International CSR Excellence Awards Founder and CEO Roger Wolens said: “The value of these awards can be measured in many ways. They deliver tangible benefits not only to the communities they serve but also to the organisations implementing them. They demonstrate that companies genuinely care about the society and are willing to invest in making the world a better place, not just for business growth but for people as well. The achievements recognised through these projects are truly remarkable.”
Gunawardena said: “This international recognition is a tribute to the generosity, commitment, and exceptional culture that our shareholders have instilled, which has permeated the length and breadth of the LOLC Group. It is also a recognition of the unwavering commitment and dedication that our staff have put in to make this project a success.”
LOLC Divi Saviya was launched in 2022 to support Sri Lankan communities through the country’s most challenging periods, including the economic crisis and natural disasters. Its first chapter, ‘Jeewithaya Dinannata,’ provided dry ration packs to 150,000 families across all 25 districts. The second chapter, ‘Daye Daruwange Anagathaya Wenuwen,’ supported students in 4,090 schools (40% of Sri Lanka’s school population) with essential school supplies and stationary, helping sustain access to education following the economic crisis and pandemic disruptions. Its third and ongoing chapter, ‘Obai Mamai Ape Ratai,’ was launched in response to Cyclone Ditwah in 2025, focusing on expediting relief, recovery, and rehabilitation efforts, including providing support for affected families and the reconstruction of infrastructure in 200 schools across six districts.
As Sri Lanka continues its journey towards recovery and progress, LOLC Divi Saviya remains committed towards supporting national priorities and creating meaningful, lasting impact for our people, while continuing to uphold the spirit of compassion and resilience that brought this initiative to life.
