EY Sri Lanka and the Maldives has announced a leadership transition with the retirement of Duminda Hulangamuwa and the appointment of Gayathri Manatunga as its new Country Managing Partner (CMP), effective 1 July 2026.
Gayathri Manatunga will succeed Duminda Hulangamuwa, who will retire on 30 June 2026, marking the conclusion of an exceptional career spanning more than four decades with EY.
A distinguished Trinitian, he has remained deeply connected to his alma mater—bringing honour to it through his achievements.
Joining EY as an Accounts Trainee in 1984, he began a distinguished career marked by depth of experience and lasting impact. In 1991, he was appointed as Resident Partner in EY Kandy—where he played a pivotal role in shaping the Firm’s practice, laying strong foundations and building its presence.

His transition to the Colombo practice marked the next phase of his career, and in 2012, as Head of Tax, he led its transformation, expanding the practice and establishing key service lines, including Transfer Pricing, International Tax, Transaction Services, and Business Tax Advisory, positioning it as a leading force in Sri Lanka’s tax landscape.
He went on to lead the Tax practice across Sri Lanka and the Maldives advising leading multinationals, conglomerates, banks, and national enterprises bringing clarity and confidence in complex environments. His contributions extended beyond the Firm playing an active role in fiscal policy and strengthening engagement between the private sector and policymakers.
In 2023, he assumed leadership as Country Managing Partner for EY Sri Lanka and the Maldives guiding the Firm into a new phase of growth and capability, strengthening its trajectory, and shaping the future for the next generation of professionals.

Manatunga currently serves as Head of Assurance for EY Sri Lanka and the Maldives and is a highly respected professional within the banking and financial services sector. Over the course of her three-decade career, she has been instrumental in reinforcing EY’s reputation as a trusted advisor, spearheading high-profile audits for multinational organisations and major locally listed groups. Her contributions extend beyond client service, with significant impact on advancing the local profession through her technical depth and unwavering focus on quality and integrity.
Known for her inclusive leadership style, client focus, and strategic insight, Manatunga brings a well-balanced perspective to her new role. There is strong confidence that she will continue to build on the solid foundations laid by her predecessors, champion a people-first culture, and lead the Firm through its next phase of growth with a continued emphasis on excellence, collaboration, and trust.
