EOIs to be called for two hotels near Mattala airport

Cabinet on Monday approved a proposal by Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga to call for expression of interest to construct and operate two hotels on land in proximity to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA).

The Government said that although the Hambantota District where MRIA is located is a major tourist destination, only a few hotels are in operation at present; hence, constructing hotels there would attract more tourists.

Two land plots have been identified as suitable for the project to the right of the terminal building of the airport.
