EFC National Best Employer Awards 2025 celebrates excellence in people-centred leadership

The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) National Best Employer Awards 2025 was successfully held on Tuesday (20) under the distinguished patronage of Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha, who graced the ceremony as Chief Guest. 

The event marked a significant milestone in recognising organisations that exemplify excellence in people-centric leadership and responsible employment practices in Sri Lanka.

Organised by the EFC—Sri Lanka’s apex employers’ body and a longstanding champion of responsible enterprise—the awards recognise organisations demonstrating outstanding excellence in strategic human resource management, ethical governance, digital innovation, and meaningful contributions to national socio-economic development.

The program featured a keynote address delivered via video message by Professor Dave Ulrich, widely regarded as the Father of Modern Human Resources, who highlighted the critical pillars required to build sustainable, future-ready organisations. International Labour Organisation (ILO) Country Director for Sri Lanka and the Maldives Joni Simpson also addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of social dialogue and inclusive workplaces. The Guest of Honour was ILO India Senior Specialist – Employers’ Activities (South Asia) Ravi Peiris, who underscored the role of employers in shaping resilient labour markets.

More than a celebration of HR best practices, the EFC National Best Employer Awards sets a national benchmark for what it means to be a truly great employer in today’s evolving world of work.

The Best Employer Award winners were Aitken Spence PLC, Brandix Apparel Ltd., Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, Dialog Axiata PLC, Hatton National Bank PLC, Hayleys PLC, Hemas Holdings, John Keells Holdings PLC, Nestlé Lanka Ltd., and Toyota Lanka Ltd.

Honourable Mentions were awarded to Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC, Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, Haleon Lanka Ltd., Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC, and South Asia Gateway Terminals Ltd.
