Dullas-SJB to work toward Govt. by consensus

Presidential aspirant Dullas Alahapperuma yesterday said the journey has begun for a Government of consensus with the main opposition SJB backing his candidature for President.

“The SJB leader Sajith Premadasa took a historic decision to support me for the post of President. From hereon we begin a new journey to change the political culture of this country and address the problems of the people collectively,” Alahapperuma said while addressing  a joint press conference with Premadasa yesterday.

He said that with  this historic decision the aim is to put the confrontational politics of the past behind and move on with consensus politics.

Premadasa too endorsed the view.

"We are entering an era of isolating parties and eliminating them in the decision making process and we shall include all parties in the Government which we shall from now on," Premadasa said.
