Don and Don climbs to 9th in JKH Top 20 shareholder list

Don and Don Investments Ltd. had climbed up to ninth position in the John Keells Holdings (JKH) Top 20 shareholders list as at 31 December 2020, doubling its stake.

It held 25.7 million shares or 2%. Don and Don entered JKH during the September quarter ranked 20th with 11.6 million shares.

Company analysts however said Don and Don had been partly shedding its stake in recent days.

One of the other Top 20 entrants in the September quarter, Sisil Investments, which was ranked 17th with 12 million shares, don’t figure in the latest December 2020 list. Analysts said it has sold most of its shares.

JKH's biggest shareholders, the Captain family and related parties, have increased their stake marginally during the quarter ended December 2020. Paints and General Industries holding was 100.6 million shares or 7.6% as against 91.7 million shares or 7% in September. Rusi Captain’s stake had increased to 25.8 million shares or 2% from 1.9% earlier. Sohli Captain holds 11.6% stake in JKH.

In the December quarter JKH highest price was Rs. 154 and the lowest was Rs. 124 before closing at Rs. 149.60. JKH on Wednesday closed at Rs. 171.25. On Monday JKH share price reached a new high when it moved up by Rs. 13 (7.73%) to close at Rs. 181.25.
