Dubai-based Dnata Airport Services Ltd., has won the contract to provide ground handling services (passenger, ground handling and cargo handling) to the national carrier—SriLankan Airlines in Melbourne International Airport, Australia for three years.

Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal by President Anura Kumara Disanayake in his capacity as the Finance, Planning, and Economic Development Minister to award the contract after bids were called from registered suppliers for the long-term agreement of ground handling for three years.

Addressing the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa disclosed the estimated value of the contract for Melbourne Airport ground handling services is over 13 million Australian dollars (13,124,402 Australian dollars) or around Rs. 2.6 billion.

After reviewing the four bids forwarded in that respect, the High Level Standing Procurement Committee recommended awarding the relevant contract to Dnata Airport Services Ltd.,” he added.

The existing contract for providing ground handling services at Melbourne Airport Australia is scheduled to expire on 30 June 2025.
