The Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) whose leader is Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, this week submitted 10 positive proposals to be considered for the upcoming 2024 budget to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The 10 proposals are as follows;
1. To enrich the power sector of Sri Lanka. The country is lagging behind in renewable energy of which the country has a huge potential and it can be tapped to align it to national economic generation and activation of the Global Renewable Energy Accord 2030
2. To strengthen food security and nutrition goals, and to mobilise rural women, youth and farmers oriented on the self-sufficiency in food and export for that purpose, and align them to economic innovation.
3. To build a country whose young generation is rich in skills and vocational training, and for a step forward in national economic revival through new employment and livelihood.
4. To initiate the nation’s commitment to a new program leading to planned and productive new agricultural exports plans using estate and Government lands where there is a vast quantity of unutilised land across the country.
5. To launch new programs that will provide strength for the future development of the fishing community.
6. To reduce the difficulties of all the low-income groups who are still suffering in the face of the current economic crisis and speedy steps for their progress and relief.
7. The launch of new schemes provide relief to domestic, small and medium scale entrepreneurs through the banking system.
8. To create a program at district level and implemented from village to village that engages scholars, intellectuals and professionals in the country to move towards an innovative economic revival.
9. To launch new programs across the country to make every school leaver a skilled workforce with knowledge in new technology and information technology.
10. To expand the opportunity for further development of the ability and skills of migrant workers.
The leader of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Vice Chairman State Minister Sisira Jayakody, and Deputy Secretary Member of Parliament Yadamini Gunawardena participated in the meeting with the President.
