The Digital Marketing Association of Sri Lanka (DMASL) recently called on President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to brief him on the Association’s role in Sri Lanka’s digital marketing and creative ecosystem, its mandate for the industry, and the vision behind the upcoming Digital Summit Asia, Sri Lanka 2026.
The meeting provided an opportunity for DMASL to discuss the continued evolution of Sri Lanka’s digital ecosystem and the role industry-led organisations can play in developing talent, strengthening professional capabilities, facilitating international knowledge exchange and creating greater global opportunities for Sri Lankan digital and creative talent.
DMASL President Arjun Jeger, together with the Digital Summit Asia Project Co-Chairs and fellow DMASL members, formally presented the DMASL Mandate to the President, outlining the Association’s priorities and its commitment to supporting the continued development and global competitiveness of Sri Lanka’s digital industry.
The discussion was particularly significant given the Government’s focus on strengthening Sri Lanka’s digital economy. DMASL shared its perspective on how closer collaboration between government, industry, academia and professional communities can contribute towards developing the skills, knowledge and industry capability required for Sri Lanka to compete in an increasingly digital global economy.
A key focus of the discussion was Digital Summit Asia, Sri Lanka 2026, which will take place on 1 and 2 October at Waters Edge.
The Summit represents the next chapter of the DMASL Summit, which across its first three editions has brought together more than 3,000 participants and over 90 local and international speakers from across digital, marketing, technology, creativity, media, innovation and business.
DMASL also briefed President Dissanayake on its long-term ambition to develop Digital Summit Asia into a regional platform anchored in Sri Lanka, bringing international and regional knowledge, expertise and industry leaders into the country while creating greater visibility and opportunities for Sri Lankan talent and capability internationally.
“Our ambition goes beyond building an annual industry event. We want to create a platform that can contribute to Sri Lanka’s digital economy by bringing global knowledge into the country, developing our people and ultimately creating more opportunities for Sri Lankan talent, creativity and digital capability to reach the world,” DMASL President Arjun Jeger said.
“Sri Lanka already has digital and creative talent capable of competing internationally. What we need is greater exposure, stronger connections and more platforms that allow this capability to be seen by the region and the world. That is the larger ambition behind Digital Summit Asia,” he added.
The DMASL delegation also expressed its appreciation for the engagement and support extended by the Digital Economy Ministry as the Association continues to strengthen collaboration between the industry and the country’s broader digital development agenda.
DMASL thanked the President for the productive discussion, his time and encouragement, and reaffirmed its commitment to working with government, industry and other stakeholders towards strengthening Sri Lanka’s digital ecosystem and international competitiveness.
