The Matara Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered the arrest of eight former officers of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), including former IGP Deshabandu Thennakoon, and to name them as suspects in the shooting incident that took place in front of the W15 Hotel in the Pelena area of Weligama, Matara on 31 December 2023.
The Court has also ordered the arrest of five other suspects, including Anselm de Silva, the Officer-in-Charge of the Colombo Crimes Division.
The suspects are being charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
