Consumer sentiment recorded its fourth consecutive monthly increase in September 2026, rising to 85 from 81 in August according to Prosoft Research and Insights.

“The continued improvement suggests that, following the fluctuations observed towards the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, consumer sentiment has entered a period of relative stabilisation over the past few months,” it added.

This broader stabilisation is also reflected in consumer purchase behaviour, with emerging signs of greater stability in spending patterns. However, cost-conscious behaviour and reductions in non-essential spending continue to remain important considerations for consumers.

Overall, the data indicates that while shoppers continue to navigate economic pressures through careful budgeting, overall market sentiment is steadily improving

The Prosoft Research and Insights conducts the Consumer Sentiment Survey monthly with a sample of 200 respondents.
