Confiscated imported essential items to be sold via Sathosa

The Government has decided to sell all confiscated imported essential items in Colombo Port via Sathosa outlets at a concessionary rate. 

A decision to this effect was approved by Cabinet this week following a joint memorandum submitted by Ports and Shipping Minister and Trade Minister. 

As per the Cabinet decision, all imported essential items confiscated by Sri Lanka Customs and Sri Lanka Ports Authority for valid reasons will be provided to Lanka Sathosa Ltd. for resale to the public. 

The Government said Lanka Sathosa already implements a system to provide essential food items to the public at affordable prices without any shortage under the current COVID-19 pandemic situation.
