Condominium Developers Association of Sri Lanka pledges to redefine future of condominium development at AGM

The ninth Annual General Meeting of the Condominium Developers Association of Sri Lanka (CDASL) was held on the 5 July at The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The event witnessed the appointment of the CDASL Chairman for the year 2023-2024 Pinsiri Fernando, with participation from industry leaders and experts, charting the path towards growth and innovation in the condominium sector.

The outgoing Chairman Brahmanage Premalal, emphasised the success factors that were achieved over the past two years, even during the global pandemic. Counting on the two key achievements during the tenure: getting a representative from the CDASL to the Condominium Management Authority (CMA) Board and granting approval to construct pet-friendly apartments. Many other initiatives and activities were executed by the Association, namely, proposing an amendment to the new Urban Development Authority (UDA) act regarding new building regulations, proposing amendments to the Apartment Ownership Law, dealing closely with the Building Materials Corporation (BMC) to get allowance for the CDASL members to directly import building materials for construction, opening the discussion about service apartments with the relevant officials, lodging issues to the Construction Industry Development Authority (CIDA), partnering with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) in its anti-money laundering measures, and organising the ‘Member Evening 2023’ with a lot of participation from experts.

The newly appointed Chairman Pinsiri Fernando highlighted two main aims that the Association will focus on: stabilising the Condominium sector and providing more networking and connecting sessions for the members. He further stated that he is looking forward to a year of impactful action to uplift the industry and the Association among the stakeholders and the public.

The Executive Committee of the CDASL comprises CDASL Chairman (Suncity Developers Chairman) Pinsiri Fernando, CDASL Secretary (SMI Housing Development Director) Prasanna De Zoysa, CDASL Treasurer (Blue Ocean Residencies Chairman) Sivarajah Thumilan, JAT Property Group Managing Director Aelian Gunawardene , Prime Lands Chairman Brahmanage Premalal, Global Housing and Real Estate Chairman Dasun Wickramaratna, Capitol Developers COO Dhammike Wasanthakumara, Quest and Query Chairman Kishore Reddy, Home Lands Skyline Chairman Nalin Herath, Praedium Chairman Pradeep Moraes, Overseas Realty Operations Manager Roderick David, and Whittall Boustead COO Supul Inoke Perera.
