The multi-day initiative was officially opened at Shangri-La Colombo yesterday by Chief Guest MP and Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe during the inaugural opening of the KAYA Expo, attended by organisers, partners, athletes and guests.

Colombo Active Week positions Sri Lanka as an emerging destination for global sporting and wellness tourism, welcoming participants and visitors from over 49 countries while creating opportunities for community participation and lifestyle engagement.

KAYA Wellness and Active Lifestyle Expo

Held from 19–21 February 2026 at Shangri-La Colombo, the KAYA Expo serves as the central hub of Colombo Active Week. Built around the pillars Move, Create, Celebrate, the Expo brings together fitness, wellness, Ayurveda, nutrition, travel, creativity, apparel and cultural experiences.

Designed as an immersive platform where body, mind and culture converge, the Expo features interactive activations, wellness consultations, product showcases and networking experiences for athletes, families and lifestyle enthusiasts.

IRONKIDS

Scheduled to take place on 21 February 2026 at Port City Colombo, IRONKIDS will form part of the IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo race weekend, allowing young participants to experience the excitement of a global sporting event in a safe and family-friendly environment. The event aims to encourage the next generation to embrace fitness and active lifestyles while crossing the iconic IRONMAN finish line.

IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo

Taking place on 22 February 2026 at Port City Colombo, IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo marks the return of one of the world’s leading endurance triathlons to Sri Lanka. The internationally recognised race attracts elite and amateur athletes from across the globe, reinforcing Colombo’s growing reputation as a destination for world-class sporting events.

Speaking at the inauguration Abeysinghe said: “Colombo Active Week demonstrates how sport, wellness and international events can add real value to Colombo and Sri Lanka by attracting global audiences, strengthening tourism, and positioning our city as a vibrant hub for active living, investment and community engagement.”

Serendib Multisport Director and KAYA Expo Organiser Yasas Hewage said: “Through Colombo Active Week, we are creating more than an event, we are building a platform that connects sport, wellness and lifestyle experiences while showcasing Sri Lanka’s potential to become a permanent destination on the global endurance and active lifestyle circuit.”

The opening ceremony featured a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and the lighting of traditional oil lamps, led by the Chief Guest Abeysinghe alongside organisers and partners.  Serendib Multisport Director Rajan Thananayagam and Shangri-La Colombo General Manager Andreas Streiber also addressed the event.

The Expo features a diverse range of local and international brands, including Under Armour and Barista, which launched an exclusive beverage for IRONKIDS, called Babychino.

Colombo Active Week invites the public to experience a dynamic program of sport, wellness, community engagement and cultural exchange across the city.
