Chef and YouTube content creator Charith N. Silva, best known for his widely popular channel ‘WildCookbook,’ has been named to the prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2025 list in the Arts (Art & Style, Food & Drink) category.
Silva is recognised alongside a new wave of young culinary innovators and designers across Asia who are blending local heritage with global trends.
Known for videos showing him preparing dishes in outdoor settings, his innovative cooking videos have not only set him apart in the global digital content arena, but have also reshaped Sri Lanka’s digital food storytelling.
Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the ‘WildCookbook’ YouTube channel quickly gained popularity for its immersive videos. The channel has since grown to become Sri Lanka’s largest YouTube channel, boasting 10 million subscribers and featuring over 600 videos with over 4 billion views at present.
In March 2025, the channel became the first Sri Lankan channel to receive the YouTube Diamond Play Button, marking a historic milestone in the country’s digital media history.
Silva also commands a massive following on social media, with 4.6 million followers on TikTok and 2.3 million followers each on Instagram and Facebook.
Expanding from digital to physical dining, Silva opened his first restaurant ‘Wildish’ in Colombo 2 last year, offering a curated experience inspired by his best dishes.
